Ness Autumn Winter collection 2011

We now have the rest of our delivery of Ness handbags, purses and accessories from the Autumn / Winter 2011 collection.

As you would expect with Ness the collection features their trademark bright tartan fabrics in emerald greens, hot pinks and russet reds, but mixed in with these tartans are panels of fine herringbone tweed.

Kleshna Crystal Poppy Brooch

This stunning crystal Poppy brooch has been created by British Jewellery designer Kleshna. Each year Kleshna produces a beautiful range of Poppy jewellery to help raise funds for the Royal British Legion and this year the crystal poppy brooch is a real show stopper!

Each Poppy brooch has over 300 hand sewn crystals and features a large central petrol coloured crystal. The brooches are sewn on to a red cloth backing with a metal pin back which is also hand stitched to the fabric. A true labour of Love. Each brooch is supplied in a black card Kleshna branded box with red paper lining and a black jewellery pad inside.

Last year’s design of Poppy brooch was worn extensively on the television show The X-Factor, both the contestants and all the judges, which included Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh, were seem wearing their Kleshna Poppy brooches with pride on shows which aired last November. Other celebraties have also taken a shine to these wonderful creations over the past few years with Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and The Saturdays amongst those spotted wearing a hand made Kleshna Poppy brooch.

Owlie Owl Piggy Bank Money Box

It would seem, at the moment, lots of people are giving a hoot with Owls in design currently proving very popular.

We have seem some really nice products featuring owls in recent months and going in to Autumn we expect to see even more. Over the Summer this lovely Owlie pattern piggy bank (left) by Repeat Repeat has been a popular Christening or new baby gift and matching mugs and picture frames are also available.

Owls have also appeared on greetings cards and stationery. We’ve pictured a few of them together here including a notebook covered with  an assortment of amusing owl caricatures, Paul Thurlby’s O is for Owl card and another greetings card designed by Andrew Pavitt called Night Owls.

Owls have also appeared on bags and purses. Designed by Nicky James a  cute repeating pattern of an Owl is available in red or blue on a range of bags including a small satchel, cross body bag as well as small make-up purses.

And for you little one to help comfort them on those dark Autumn and Winter nights there is also a  timeless and beautiful Owl nightlight which, even when not lit up, is still a stunning bright white decorative object which could be the feature piece of any nursery or perhaps a reading room and we have to admit is proving just as popular with adults as it is with children.

Typography is also prominent throughout his designs, this is refected in three of his prints, This is Where the Magic Happens, Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder and With Love from Me to You, which are now available as faithfully reproduced greetings cards. Although you do have to be careful who you give the Absence card to, as, turned upside down, it reads Out of Sight Out of Mind.

Each card comes individually wrapped with envelope and is printed on FSC approved board.

Orla Kiely House Kitchen Ware

Storage jars feature strongly in the range with the 1 litre jar available in a wide selection of designs including the classic Multi Stem pattern and the vibrant Red Abacus pattern. Each jar is fitted with a hand crafted American Walnut lid with silicon sealing ring and as each lid is hand crafted, no two are ever identical in shade or colour bringing a uniqueness and warmth to the collection. Larger storage jars are also available in 2 litre and 3.5 litre sizes, but in a more restricted choice of Orla Kiely patterns.

For the kitchen breakfast table there is a teapot in a choice of two versions of the Orla Kiely Poppy Meadow pattern which mix and contrast beautifully with the Red Abacus milk jug and Linear Stem lidded sugar bowl. Butter dishes also in Poppy Meadow pattern complete the look and one of the three sizes of salad bowl could easily double as a table centre, fruit bowl or bread basket.

Repeat Repeat Bone China Plum Jugs

These classy new jugs by Repeat Repeat are from their Plum range. cast in fine bone china and made in Stoke on Trent England, each white china jug features raised moulded details which create beautiful contemporary patterns on the surface of each jug. Available in three sizes with each size having it’s own pattern. Matching mugs including new Meadow and Seedling patterns also available. Our selection from the Plum range can be viewed here.

To celebrate the marriage of William and Kate our little village, like many, is planning a street party for families and children which will be held on a triangle of roads which surround the war memorial. I hope everyone goes over the top with the bunting, Union Jack flags and the jelly and ice cream!

One Brown Cow Window Display

With the Royal Wedding on the horizon, I have taken the opportunity to decorate our little shop with a window display of Union Jack and Royal memorabilia swagged with Union Jack bunting. The window display has only been in for a day and already people are stopping and admiring and smiling, hurray! So here’s wishing the Royal couple all the best on their big day.
